How to connect Report Pundit to Claude
Connecting takes about two minutes. You copy your MCP Access URL from Report Pundit, paste it into Claude once, and Claude can then read and run your reports in any conversation.
You only do this once per store.
Before you start
Report Pundit installed on the store you want to analyse.
The Essential Plus plan or higher. The Claude connector is not available on lower plans. You can check your plan under Settings, then Account Details, next to Report Pundit Plan.
A Claude account. Custom connectors work on the Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans. The Free plan allows one custom connector in total. On Team and Enterprise, an organisation Owner has to add the connector before members can use it.
Your MCP Access URL. Step 1 shows where to find it.
Step 1: Copy your MCP Access URL from Report Pundit
Each store has its own MCP Access URL. It is what tells Claude which store's reports to read, so you need the one belonging to your store. Do not use a URL from a guide, a forum or a colleague.
In Report Pundit, click Settings in the top navigation.
Click Account Details in the left sidebar.
Find the MCP Access URL row near the bottom of the panel.
Click the copy icon next to it.

The row on screen shows only the last few characters of your token, like token=***********inRR. That is expected. The copy icon copies the full URL, which looks like this with your own token at the end:
https://app.reportpundit.com/mcp?token=YOUR_UNIQUE_TOKENDo not copy the Shop Key by mistake. It sits directly above the MCP Access URL and has its own copy icon, but it is a different credential and will not work in Claude. You want the MCP Access URL row.
Keep this URL private. The token in it works like a password. Anyone who has the full URL can read your store's reports through Claude. Do not paste it into a screenshot, a shared document, a support ticket or a chat thread. If it is ever exposed, see If your MCP Access URL is exposed below.
Step 2: Add the connector in Claude (Free, Pro and Max plans)
On Team or Enterprise, skip to the next section.
Open Claude and go to Settings, then Connectors under Customize.
Click Add, then choose Custom. If Claude asks for a connector type, choose Web.
In the Name field, enter
Report Pundit. This is only the label you will see in your connectors list.In the Remote MCP server URL field, paste the full URL you copied in Step 1, including everything after
?token=.Click Continue. If Claude shows a further screen with authentication settings, leave them exactly as they are. Claude checks your URL and fills these in for you, marking them "Detected." You do not need an OAuth client ID, a secret or a request header.
Open Report Pundit in your connectors list. You will see the message "You're not connected to Report Pundit yet."
Click Connect.

"You're not connected yet" is normal at step 6. Adding the connector and connecting to it are two separate actions. Claude has saved your URL but has not used it yet. Clicking Connect is what finishes setup, and the message disappears once it succeeds.
If Claude cannot reach the server, the URL is usually the problem. Paste it again from Report Pundit rather than retyping it, and check that nothing was cut off at the end and that there is no trailing space.
If your dialog looks different and shows the name, URL and Advanced settings all on one screen, you have Claude's earlier version of this dialog. Fill in the name and URL, leave Advanced settings alone, and click Add. Everything else here still applies.
Step 2: Add the connector in Claude (Team and Enterprise plans)
On these plans an Owner adds the connector for the organisation, then each member connects to it individually.
Before the Owner starts: the store is identified by the token in the URL, so everyone in the organisation who enables this connector can read that store's reports. There is no per-person sign-in. Only add it if that is what you intend.
The Owner does this:
Go to Settings, then Organization settings, then Connectors.
Click Add, then choose Custom. If Claude asks for a connector type, choose Web.
Enter
Report Punditas the name.Paste the full MCP Access URL from Step 1.
Click Continue. If a further screen with authentication settings appears, leave them exactly as they are and confirm.
Each member then does this:
Go to Settings, then Connectors.
Find Report Pundit in the list. It carries a Custom label.
Click Connect.
Members cannot add the connector themselves. If a member does not see it in their list, the Owner has not added it yet.
Step 3: Turn the connector on in your chat
Adding a connector makes it available. You still switch it on for the conversation you are working in.
In the message box, click the + button.
Open Connectors.
Make sure Report Pundit is switched on.
This is the most common reason a correctly connected store still gets "I don't have access to your reports."
[SCREENSHOT: the + menu in a Claude chat with the Report Pundit connector toggled on]
Step 4: Check that it worked
Ask Claude this:
List my Report Pundit reports.
If the report names from your My Reports page come back, you are connected. The first time Claude uses the connector it may ask you to allow the tool. Allow it.
If you have not built any reports yet, ask instead:
What Report Pundit reports are available for sales?
Claude will search the Library and suggest reports you can run straight away.
If Claude says it has no Report Pundit tools available, the connector is not switched on for that conversation. Go back to Step 3. If it is switched on and you still see the message, start a new chat.
If report names come back that you do not recognise, the connector is pointing at a different store. To check, go to Settings, then Connectors, and open Report Pundit. The URL it is using is shown on that page with the token partly hidden. Compare the visible characters against the MCP Access URL on the store you meant to connect. If they differ, edit the URL to the correct one.
TO CONFIRM: what does the user see if they are on a plan below Essential Plus? An error from the connector, an empty report list, or a failure when adding it in Claude? That symptom needs a line here and an entry in the troubleshooting article.
What to do next
Now that you are connected, pull your first report into Claude. It takes one prompt.
Managing the connector later
To update the URL, for example after regenerating your token: in Claude, go to Settings, then Connectors, select Report Pundit, and edit it from the three-dot menu. Team and Enterprise Owners do this under Admin settings, then Connectors.
To turn it off temporarily, switch it off in the chat + menu under Connectors. It stays connected, Claude just will not use it.
To disconnect completely, go to Settings, then Connectors, and remove Report Pundit. This removes Claude's access. Your reports and your Report Pundit account are unaffected.
Note that authentication settings cannot be changed after a connector is added in Claude. If you ever need to change them, remove the connector and add it again. The URL itself can be edited without removing anything.
Does the token expire?
No. Your MCP Access URL keeps working until you regenerate it. There is nothing to renew and no reconnection schedule to keep track of.
If your MCP Access URL is exposed
If your URL has been shared somewhere it should not have been, regenerate it. The old token stops working immediately, so anyone holding it loses access.
In Report Pundit, go to Settings, then Account Details.
On the MCP Access URL row, click the regenerate icon, the circular arrow next to the copy icon.
Click the copy icon to copy the new URL.
In Claude, go to Settings, then Connectors, select Report Pundit, and update the URL to the new one.
Until you complete step 4, Claude will not be able to read your reports, because it is still holding the old token.
To remove Claude's access entirely rather than replace it, use the delete icon on the same row. You can also remove the connector on the Claude side, but deleting the URL in Report Pundit is what actually revokes access.
I have more than one store
Each store has its own MCP Access URL, so you add each store as its own connector in Claude and give each a name you will recognise, such as Report Pundit - UK store.
TO CONFIRM: how does this interact with Connect Shops? If connected shops share one MCP Access URL, this section is wrong and needs rewriting.
Still stuck?
See Report Pundit and Claude: troubleshooting, or contact support. Never include your MCP Access URL or token in a support message. Tell us the error you saw instead.
