What you can do with Report Pundit in Claude
Report Pundit connects to Claude, so you can pull any of your reports into a conversation and ask questions about the data instead of reading a spreadsheet.
Your reports already hold the answers. The work is usually in the sorting, filtering and cross-referencing you do after the export. That is the part this connector removes. You ask a question in plain language, Claude runs the report you already built and answers from the actual rows.
What the connector does
Once connected, Claude can:
See your reports. Every report on your My Reports page, by name.
Explain a report before running it. Which fields, filters, date range and sort order a report uses, without waiting for a run.
Run any of your reports. Claude runs it on Report Pundit's servers and reads the results back into your conversation.
Run a report for a different date range. Any range you ask for, without changing the report itself.
Find and run a report from the Library. If you have not built a report for what you need, Claude can search the Library and run a match.
Analyze what comes back. Totals, comparisons, breakdowns, outliers, charts, or a spreadsheet you can download.
This works with any report you have built, including heavily customized ones. If the report exists in Report Pundit, Claude can read it.
What the connector cannot do
It is read-only on the reporting side and has no access to your store beyond it.
It cannot create, edit or delete anything in My Reports, except when you explicitly ask it to save a new report from the Library.
It cannot change orders, products, inventory, customers or anything else in Shopify.
It cannot see any store other than the one your MCP Access URL belongs to.
If you want to change what a report contains, you still do that in Report Pundit. Claude reads reports, it does not build them.
What you need before you start
Report Pundit installed on your store.
The Essential Plus plan or higher. The Claude connector is not available on lower plans.
At least one report in My Reports, or the willingness to start from the Library.
A Claude account. Custom connectors work on the Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans. The Free plan allows one custom connector. On Team and Enterprise, an organization Owner adds the connector first, then members connect individually.
Your MCP Access URL, which you copy from Settings, then Account Details in Report Pundit.
Setup takes about two minutes. See How to connect Report Pundit to Claude.
Your MCP Access URL is unique to your store
Report Pundit gives each store its own MCP Access URL, and that URL is what tells Claude which store to read. You will find it under Settings, then Account Details. It looks like this:
Treat it like a password. Anyone who has it can read your store's reports through Claude. Do not paste it into a shared document, a support ticket, a screenshot or a chat thread.
It does not expire on its own. If you think it has been exposed, regenerate it from the same Account Details screen and the old one stops working straight away.
Three ways stores use it
Explain a change in a number. You know revenue moved. You want to know which products, channels or discounts moved it.
Run my Sales by Product report for August, then for July, and tell me what drove the difference.
Find what is worth looking at. Instead of scanning a thousand rows for something odd, ask for the odd thing.
Pull my Inventory on Hand report and tell me which best sellers are closest to running out.
Decide something. The point of the analysis is usually a decision, so ask for the decision.
Based on my last 90 days of sales and my current stock, which ten SKUs should I reorder this week and which should I discount out?

How it works, in brief
When you ask Claude to run a report, the report runs in Report Pundit exactly as it would in the app, using the same fields and filters. Claude waits for it to finish, then reads the columns and rows into your conversation. Larger reports take longer, the same as they do in the app.
Once the data is in the conversation, it stays there. You can keep asking follow-up questions without running the report again, which is both faster and more accurate than re-running it each time.
Two practical consequences worth knowing early. Very large reports can be too big to read back in full, so narrowing the date range or asking for a summary rather than every row gives you more reliable answers. And for numbers you are going to file or pay against, such as tax or payouts, use Claude for the analysis and your Report Pundit export as the record. Getting accurate results from large reports in Claude covers both.
